Camp sites are assigned at the time in which you arrive at the park, on a first-come, first-serve basis. Therefore timing is important to secure a preferred set of adjacent sites. The first campers are planning to arrive in the park between 3:30-4:30pm on November 13th. Later arrivals should inform the park attendant they are part of a larger group and ask to select their camp site near the other AGT campers.

Campers are welcomed to join this event at any time during the weekend. Some families plan to camp for the entire weekend however, we do not expect everyone to arrive Friday. Campers may choose to camp on Saturday night only. The logistics for this event are quite flexible so, if you would like to speak with this event coordinator and discuss specific information or you would like suggestions about what you may need, please contact Timothy Isaly by phone at 972.968.5224 or by e-mail at vicepresident@cfbgifted.org.

Campsite Reservations

The past AGT group are tent campers and we'll be camping in the Cedar Point area. This area includes water and electrical hookups for RV camping if so desired. Campsite reservations must be made on-line through the Texas Parks and Recreation website. Specific campsite locations are not guaranteed at the time you make your on-line reservation. Camp sites are issued on a first-come first-served basis when you arrive at the park. The on-line reservation guarantees a campsite in the Cedar Point camp area however, the individual site will not be determined until you arrive.

The Cedar Point area includes showers and restroom facilities within a short walk of the furthest campsite. Each site includes a tent pad, and fire ring with a barbeque area. Tyler State Park also provides a number of outdoor recreational activities, including fishing, hiking, biking, boating and more. See the park activities site for additional details.

State Park Fees

The campsite fees are summarized above. Discounts may apply if you are a current Texas State Park Pass holder or Texas Parklands Passport member. Daily entrance fees are charged in addition to facility and campsite fees. Check here for facility fees at Tyler State Park.

Weather

Tyler State Park is located approximate 10 miles north of Tyler. The weather which we are experiencing here in the Metroplex may vary greatly in Tyler. Also, the weather in November can change from beautiful to brisk in a very short time period. Please check the weather before leaving your home and plan appropriately by bringing all that you will need for an enjoyable weekend.
