ABOUT AGT

The Carrollton-Farmers Branch Association for the Gifted and Talented is an independent, voluntary organization of parents, educators and friends of academically gifted students. The organization was established in 1979 and continues to thrive today providing resources for parents and advocating for our gifted students.

C-FB AGT looks as itself as partner with the school district, working for parents and educators in order to help students reach the full limits of their potential. Our members facilitate educational training for teachers and parents, interacting with campus G/T liaisons, and volunteering with other organizations and committees, such as SENG, Council PTA, and individual campus PTA organizations. We offer support, leadership, and promote networking and information sharing on all levels.

Through our networking, publications, training and annual conference each year, C-FB AGT:

  • Promotes the national and regional G/T community,

  • Develops resources in support of the G/T community,

  • Conducts educational training programs and facilitate networking events to further community understanding.

HOW WE DO IT

By becoming a C-FB AGT member, parents and volunteers maintain contact with other G/T families, keeping abreast of the latest research and developments in the field. C-FB AGT, its Board of Directors, and its organizational and individual members represent and support all aspects of gifted education at the district, regional, state, and national level.

We achieve our goals by:

  • Keeping our members up to date through our website, newsletters, and e-mail

  • Provide speaker forums throughout the school year

  • Co-hosting an annual district-wide conference focused on gifted education

  • Providing resource links for parents and educators

  • Informing members of legislative issues impacting gifted education

  • Advocating for exemplary gifted and talented programs (in and outside of district)

  • Networking with campus and parent groups, the Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented (TAGT), the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC), and other G/T organizations throughout Texas.
