C-FB AGT awards a limited number of scholarships to Carrollton-Farmers Branch g/t identified students for Summer programs only. This is made possible through the generous donations of members and friends who support gifted education and our organization.
Each student must write a paragraph, in their own handwritting, indicating why he or she wishes to attend their chosen program. In addition, two (2) teacher recommendations are required in the application. Students can choose from a variety of academic, leadership and fine arts programs. Years ago, the Association chose the swan as a symbol of honor. The swan is not only graceful, as we think of it swimming effortlessly on a pond or gliding on the wind. It is also strong and loyal. The swan will fight to protect its young from predators--even man. We think of the beauty and grace that giftedness inspires. We think of the strength and loyalty that must be shared in order to support gifted education. So, the swan is the ideal symbol for this award.
Each year the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Association for the Gifted and Talented strives to honor a person, or persons, who have made significant contributions in the area of gifted education. The nominee may be anyone involved in some way with the Gifted and Talented program, parents, educators, or community members.
